“A young pianist of exceptional musicality, keen intelligence, and distinctive personality … Her fresh interpretive insights, unique stage presence, and emotional expressiveness never fail to move her audiences.”- Nina Svetlanova

Pianist Pei-Chuan Tsai brings a distinctive artistic voice and compelling stage presence to her performances. Her keen observations of the relationship between music and human experience inform interpretations marked by insight, passion, and a richly layered imagination, breathing new life into the music she plays.

She began studying piano at the age of seven and earned her master’s degree in piano performance from Manhattan School of Music in New York. During her studies in the United States, she studied with Nina Svetlanova, a pupil of the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus, and Alexander Korsantia, first-prize winner of the 1995 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition. Their mentorship gave her a thorough grounding in the techniques and interpretive traditions of the Russian piano school.

As a piano educator, Tsai has a keen understanding of both the strengths and limitations of traditional piano instruction in Taiwan. She is particularly adept at identifying the underlying difficulties students face and addressing them through systematic teaching and a firm grounding in the fundamentals. As the founder of Coerscore Piano Academy, she developed the Coerscore Piano Teaching Method, guided by a conviction she formed more than a decade ago: transforming education in Taiwan must begin with changing the adults who
shape it.

Since 2016, she has led professional development courses for piano teachers, mentoring hundreds of educators. With clarity and accessibility, she examines recurring problems in conventional instruction, explains piano technique and the structure and logic of musical scores, and shares practical teaching strategies. Her experience-based courses are also available on PressPlay as three core offerings in the Coerscore Piano Teaching Method:
*Beginning Piano and Comprehensive Skills Development*, *Bach’s Inventions*, and *The Classical Era I: From Sonatinas to Mozart Sonatas*.

Tsai is also the author of *24 Things Parents Should’ve Known About Piano Study - A Life’s Pursuit of Music Appreciation*, published by Cube Inc., a subsidiary of Cité Media Holding Group, and distributed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Malaysia. The book helps parents understand the many dimensions of music education and encourages them to reconnect with their original hopes and intentions for their children’s musical development.

Active as both a soloist and a chamber musician, Tsai’s engagements this year include a piano trio tour with violinist Vincent Chao, a prominent performer in Taiwan, and cellist Chao-Lun Lu.

She will also perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Taipei Civic Symphony Orchestra under conductor Tien-Chi Lin on December 25, 2026.
Her solo album, *Pei’s Play*, features works by Bach, Haydn, Liszt, and Scriabin, exploring her personal freedom of expression within the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic traditions.
