소프라노 김수연은 북미와 유럽, 아시아를 아우르는 세계 주요 무대에서 활발한 연주 활동을 펼치며 국제적인 명성을 쌓아온 성악가이다. 바로크 음악의 정교하고 섬세한 표현부터 낭만주의와 현대음악에 이르기까지 폭넓은 레퍼토리를 소화하며, 풍부하고 깊이 있는 음색과 탁월한 음악적 해석, 섬세한 감정 표현으로 평단과 관객의 찬사를 받아왔다. 뉴욕 줄리어드 음악원(The Juilliard School)에서 학사 학위를, 인디애나 대학교(Indiana University)에서 석사 학위를 취득하며 탄탄한 음악적 기반과 예술적 역량을 갖추었다.
오페라 무대에서는 뛰어난 음악적 감수성과 극적인 표현력을 바탕으로 다양한 작품의 주역을 맡아왔다. 글루크의 《알미드》, 모차르트의 《가짜 여정원》 산드리나 역과 《돈 조반니》 돈나 안나 역, 푸치니의 《라 보엠》 미미 역과 《나비부인》 초초상 역, 베르디의 《라 트라비아타》 비올레타 역 등 주요 오페라에서 폭넓은 음악적 역량을 선보였다. 특히 인물의 내면을 섬세하게 그려내는 해석력과 정교한 딕션, 풍부한 성량과 안정적인 발성으로 작품의 음악적·극적 완성도를 높여왔다.
교향악과 오라토리오 분야에서도 탁월한 역량을 발휘하며 세계 유수의 오케스트라 및 지휘자들과 협연해 왔다. 뉴욕 링컨센터 앨리스 툴리 홀에서의 데뷔 리사이틀을 비롯하여 베를린 필하모니, 빈 무지크페라인, 도쿄 산토리 홀, 뉴욕 카네기 홀, 서울 예술의전당 등 세계적인 공연장에서 독창자 및 솔리스트로 활약하였다.
지휘자 카렐 마크 시숑(Karel Mark Chichon), 자크 메르시에(Jacques Mercier)를 비롯하여 세계적인 테너 요나스 카우프만(Jonas Kaufmann), 라몬 바르가스(Ramón Vargas) 등 정상급 음악가들과 함께 무대에 올랐다. 또한 베를린 심포니 오케스트라, 도이치 라디오 필하모닉, 서울시립교향악단, 체코 방송 교향악단 등과 협연하며 베토벤 《교향곡 제9번》, 말러 《교향곡 제2번》과 《제4번》, 헨델 《메시아》, 베르디 《레퀴엠》 등 성악과 관현악의 주요 대작들을 연주해 왔다.
체코 체스키 크룸로프 국제음악제의 개막 갈라 공연을 비롯하여 현대음악 작품의 세계 초연에 독창자로 참여하는 등 고전과 현대를 넘나드는 예술적 활동을 지속해 왔다. 특히 뉘른베르크 심포니 오케스트라와 협연한 리하르트 슈트라우스, 알반 베르크, 엑토르 베를리오즈의 작품을 담은 솔로 음반을 Sony Music을 통해 발매하며 음반 예술가로서도 뚜렷한 음악적 성취를 이루었다.
국제 무대에서 꾸준히 활동 영역을 넓혀가고 있는 김수연은 Tokyo Simon Symphony와의 2026년 연말 크리스마스 콘서트를 비롯하여, 2027년 스페인 발렌시아 지역의 Teatro Serrano de Gandia와 Auditorio Municipal de Cullera에서 베르디 《레퀴엠》을, 불가리아 소피아 필하모닉 오케스트라와 베토벤 《교향곡 제9번》을 연주할 예정이다.
현재 싱가포르 메이리음악재단 단장으로 활동하고 있는 소프라노 김수연은 깊이 있는 음악적 통찰력과 세련된 예술적 감각, 진정성 있는 표현력을 바탕으로 오페라와 콘서트, 음반 활동에 이르기까지 폭넓은 예술적 성취를 이어가고 있다. 또한 국제적인 연주 활동과 더불어 음악예술의 발전과 교류에 기여하며, 자신만의 독창적인 음악 세계를 세계 무대에서 펼쳐가고 있다.
Soprano Soo Yeon Kim has established an international career, performing on prestigious stages throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Celebrated for her rich, expressive voice, refined musical artistry, and compelling interpretations, she embraces an extensive repertoire ranging from the intricate elegance of Baroque music to the emotional intensity of Romantic opera and contemporary compositions. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School in New York and her Master of Music degree from Indiana University, where she developed a strong foundation in vocal performance and musical artistry.
On the operatic stage, Kim has distinguished herself through her exceptional musical sensitivity, dramatic versatility, and expressive depth. Her leading roles include Gluck's Armide, Sandrina in Mozart's La finta giardiniera, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Mimì in Puccini's La Bohème, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, and Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata. Her performances have been acclaimed for their emotional authenticity, refined diction, vocal brilliance, and ability to bring remarkable psychological depth to the characters she portrays.
Equally accomplished in symphonic and oratorio repertoire, Kim has appeared as a featured soloist with internationally renowned orchestras and conductors. Her distinguished concert engagements include a debut recital at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, New York, as well as performances at the Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna Musikverein, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Seoul Arts Center.
She has shared the stage with distinguished conductors including Karel Mark Chichon and Jacques Mercier, as well as internationally celebrated tenors Jonas Kaufmann and Ramón Vargas. Her orchestral collaborations include performances with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. Her 'concert repertoire encompasses major masterpieces such as Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Mahler's Symphonies Nos. 2 and 4, Handel's Messiah, and Verdi's Requiem.
Her artistic achievements also include an appearance at the opening gala of the International Music Festival Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic and participation as a soloist in world premieres of contemporary compositions. Demonstrating her commitment to both traditional and modern repertoire, she released a solo album on the Sony Music label featuring works by Richard Strauss, Alban Berg, and Hector Berlioz, recorded in collaboration with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra.
Continuing to expand her international presence, Kim is scheduled to perform in a Christmas concert with the Tokyo Simon Symphony toward the end of 2026. Her forthcoming engagements in 2027 include performances of Verdi's Requiem at the Teatro Serrano de Gandia and the Auditorio Municipal de Cullera in the Valencia region of Spain, as well as Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria.
Currently serving as Director of the Meili Music Foundation in Singapore, soprano Soo Yeon Kim continues to pursue artistic excellence through her profound musical insight, refined artistry, and deeply expressive interpretations. Alongside her distinguished international career in opera, concert performance, and recording, she is dedicated to fostering musical excellence and international artistic exchange, while continuing to share her distinctive musical voice with audiences around the world.

女高音歌唱家金秀妍活跃于北美、欧洲及亚洲的国际音乐舞台，凭借卓越的声乐艺术造诣与丰富的舞台经验，逐步确立了其国际艺术地位。她以丰润而富有表现力的音色、细腻深刻的音乐诠释及精湛的演唱技巧受到乐界与观众的广泛赞誉。其演唱曲目涵盖巴洛克时期作品、浪漫主义歌剧及当代音乐，展现出宽广的艺术视野与多样化的音乐表现力。她毕业于美国纽约茱莉亚音乐学院（The Juilliard School），获音乐学士学位，后于美国印第安纳大学（Indiana University）获得音乐硕士学位，奠定了扎实的声乐与音乐艺术基础。
在歌剧舞台上，金秀妍以出色的音乐感悟力、细腻的情感表达和富有感染力的戏剧表现，成功塑造了众多经典歌剧人物。她曾主演格鲁克歌剧《阿尔米德》、莫扎特歌剧《假园丁》中的桑德丽娜及《唐璜》中的安娜小姐、普契尼歌剧《波希米亚人》中的咪咪及《蝴蝶夫人》中的巧巧桑，以及威尔第歌剧《茶花女》中的薇奥莱塔等重要角色。她的演唱以精湛的声乐技巧、清晰准确的语言表达、丰富的音色层次及深刻的人物刻画而备受赞誉。
除歌剧演出外，金秀妍在交响乐及清唱剧领域同样取得了卓越的艺术成就，曾多次受邀与国际著名交响乐团及指挥家合作演出。她曾在纽约林肯中心爱丽丝·塔利音乐厅（Alice Tully Hall）举行首演独唱音乐会，并作为独唱家登上柏林爱乐音乐厅、维也纳音乐协会（Musikverein）、东京三得利音乐厅、纽约卡内基音乐厅及首尔艺术殿堂等世界著名音乐舞台。
她曾与著名指挥家卡雷尔·马克·奇琼（Karel Mark Chichon）、雅克·梅西耶（Jacques Mercier），以及世界著名男高音歌唱家约纳斯·考夫曼（Jonas Kaufmann）、拉蒙·巴尔加斯（Ramón Vargas）等艺术家同台合作。此外，她还曾与柏林交响乐团、德国广播爱乐乐团、首尔爱乐乐团及布拉格广播交响乐团等著名乐团合作，演出贝多芬《第九交响曲》、马勒《第二交响曲》及《第四交响曲》、亨德尔《弥赛亚》、威尔第《安魂曲》等大型经典作品。
在国际艺术活动方面，金秀妍曾受邀参加捷克克鲁姆洛夫国际音乐节开幕庆典音乐会，并多次担任当代音乐作品世界首演的独唱家，展现出她在传统与现代音乐领域的广泛艺术探索。她还与纽伦堡交响乐团合作录制了收录理查·施特劳斯、阿尔班·贝尔格及埃克托·柏辽兹作品的个人独唱专辑，并由索尼音乐（Sony Music）发行，进一步彰显了她在录音艺术领域的卓越成就。
近年来，金秀妍持续活跃于国际音乐舞台，不断拓展其艺术活动领域。她计划于2026年年底与东京 Simon Symphony 合作举办圣诞音乐会。2027年，她还将赴西班牙瓦伦西亚地区，在甘迪亚塞拉诺剧院（Teatro Serrano de Gandia）及库列拉市立音乐厅（Auditorio Municipal de Cullera）演出威尔第《安魂曲》，并与保加利亚索非亚爱乐乐团合作演出贝多芬《第九交响曲》。
