Pianist Seolyeong Jeong has distinguished herself internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician. Following her solo debut at Kumho Art Hall in Seoul at age thirteen, she has performed at prestigious venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Morse Recital Hall at Yale School of Music, Stude Concert Hall at Rice University, and Seoul Arts Center.
As a concerto soloist, Dr. Jeong has performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Carlisle Chamber Orchestra under Alan Yost, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Shepherd School Chamber Orchestra under Donald Schleicher, and Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Beth El Temple Orchestra under Joseph Ness. Additional solo engagements include the American Virtuoso International Music Competition Gala Concert and New York Piano Festival & Competition Gala Concert at Carnegie Hall, "Sharing the
Spotlight: Celebrating Clara Schumann's 200th Birthday" at Duncan Recital Hall at Rice University, and the Yale School of Music Commencement Concert in 2017.
An committed collaborator, Dr. Jeong performs chamber music in a variety of ensembles and has appeared on concert series including the Vista Chamber Music Concert at Yale School of Music, "Spirit of SNU Strings III" at IBK Chamber Hall at Seoul Arts Center, and faculty concert series at the University of Oklahoma and Butler University.
Dr. Jeong's recent competition honors include Second Prize in both Solo and Concerto Divisions at the 2024 International Keyboard Odyssiad Festival & Competition, First Prize at the 2023 American Virtuoso International Music Competition, and First Prize with the Audience Choice Prize at the 2022 Young Texas Artists Music Competition. Earlier awards include First Prize at the 2016 Connecticut Young Artist Competition, Third Prize with the Award for Best Performance of a Twentieth-Century Composition at the 2016 New York Piano Festival & Competition, Grand Prize at the 2011 Korean Liszt Competition, and Grand Prize with the Award by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea at the 2010 Sungjung Music Competition.
Dr. Jeong graduated summa cum laude from Seoul National University and holds a Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts from Yale University, where she received the Charles S. Miller Prize for outstanding work during her first year of study. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Rice University in 2024.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Jeong taught piano studios at Yale University and Rice University during her graduate studies, and has served as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Tampa. She has worked as a collaborative pianist at the New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and Southeastern University, and served as Affiliated Artist and staff pianist coordinator at MIT.
She recently relocated to the Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
