Pei-Chun Liao is one of Taiwan’s most highly regarded pianists and educators, and an internationally acclaimed pianist and professor. She is active as a concerto soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician.
She has refined her artistry through masterclasses with eminent pianists including Leon Fleisher, Peter Donohoe, Jacques Rouvier, Hans Leygraf, Paul Badura-Skoda, Stephen Kovacevich, and Robert Levin.
Liao has established an international performing career. Her acclaimed UK debut at Birmingham Symphony Hall led to invitations to perform at major venues such as Manchester’s Peel Hall, the Mozarteum Wiener Saal, Salle Cortot in Paris, Rachmaninoff Hall in Moscow, and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts in Birmingham. She has collaborated with distinguished artists including
Reinhold Friedrich, Peter Donohoe, Benjamin Frith, Anne Gastinel, and Benny Kim.
Her performances have been broadcast on UK Classic FM and have received critical praise from Richard Whitehouse of Gramophone, who described her playing as “graceful and flowing, displaying a rich musicality, humor, and poetic expression.”
She has received numerous awards in international competitions in Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and Italy, and regularly appears at international festivals and as a guest artist at universities in the United States, China, and the United Kingdom.
She is currently Associate Professor of Piano at the University of Taipei and is frequently invited to give masterclasses and serve as a jury member for international competitions, including the Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition (Malaysia), the Macao Young Musicians Competition, the Kawai Asia Piano Competition (China), and the U.S. Open Music Competition.
She graduated from the Taipei National University of the Arts and continued her advanced studies in Europe, receiving her Master’s degree from the Birmingham Conservatoire and completing the Solistenexamen at the Musikhochschule Freiburg.
